Mr Kildee said he will concentrate on 50 cities, identified in a recent study by the Brookings Institution, an influential Washington think-tank, as potentially needing to shrink substantially to cope with their declining fortunes. Not sure how we made it into the "rust belt". Don't they know this is actually the kidney stone belt when tornadoes or earthquakes aren't occurring? But praytell does Mayor Willie know about this Obama dozer idea? Wonder if he's already Sharpie-marking his map and circling spots for leveling, like say East Memphis (too many devils) or most of Central Avenue? It's all about the voters!
Most are former industrial cities in the "rust belt" of America's Mid-West and North East. They include Detroit, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Memphis
Or maybe that sink hole that derailed Amtrak for five months was really the start-up and we just didn't know it? Or maybe they're talking about the city golf courses, although technically they are already green spaces. Or heck, maybe someone was driving through town and saw the Mall of Memphis and figured we'd already started.
Speaking of driving and bulldozing, Memphis should have done it's dozing years ago by completing I-40 through midtown,. but that's another story and probably not why they put us on this list. Actually, they probably put us on the list to make sure all the cities weren't in traditional blue states.
